what I do

Relevant content deserves attention.

artreach berlin helps cultural institutions position their ideas clearly and connect with diverse audiences.

Services include strategic advice on external communications, audience-focused copywriting, online editorial work, research, and conceptual support for outreach and communication projects.

The goal is not simply to reach more people. It is to connect the right people with the right content.

Creating access to art.

My aim is to open up meaningful ways for people to engage with art without reducing its complexity.

I develop programs that respond to the content, the setting, and the audience – from guided tours to participatory workshops and other accessible formats.

I take different levels of knowledge, perspectives, and needs into account, with clear language, inclusive formats, and communication materials designed to reduce barriers.

Complex ideas. Clear language.

Effective cultural communication requires both subject-matter precision and language that fits the medium and the audience.

I write and edit academic, journalistic, and communications content for cultural institutions, publications, and digital media.

about me

My name is Dr. Lena Hennewig, and I am an art historian, cultural educator, and communications specialist.

For more than ten years, I have worked across art education, cultural communication, and academic editing. My previous clients and employers include Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart, Museum Berggruen, the German Digital Library (Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek), Humboldt University of Berlin, the non-profit arts organisation schir, and the urban planning and research office sbca.

I studied Art and Visual History at Humboldt University of Berlin, where I also completed my PhD, graduating with a dissertation entitled Ancient, Ever New: Oskar Schlemmer’s Vision of the Human Being, Space and the Kunstfigur during His Time at the Bauhaus (Logos, 2021). I hold a Bachelor's degree in Art, Music and Media: Organisation and Communication from Philipps University of Marburg. My academic studies and research also took me to New York University, Bard Graduate Center for Decorative Arts, Design History, and Material Culture in New York City, and the Max Planck Institute for Art History in Florence.

My strength lies in quickly getting to the heart of complex subjects, developing clear concepts, and shaping content in ways that connect with the people it is meant to reach.
